Tip on how to recover digital camera thrown in water

If you mistakenly or accidentally dropped your camera or digital camera into water, don't panic. You can still dry the digital camera out before too much damage is done on the parts. The technique or method uses a rice bowl or similar sized bowl. Disconnect the battery as quick as possible. The battery is the part of the digital camera that is most likely to be destroyed by the water or moisture.
Remove any memory sticks, put enough rice into a bowl or container and bury the camera inside it. Make sure the camera is completely covered in the bowl.

Wait for the moisture to drain out. This might take few nights or up to a week.
Avoid turning it back, before it's completely dry. This may not work if your camera was on during the fall into water.
You may need to replace the battery or memory card. Never use salt to bury your camera. This will probably make the camera useless.

REASON:
Rice tends to draw moisture to it or absorb water content.
